Telemarketing bastards

Thanks to an incessant fax telemarketer, and with some help from Google, I've now filed my first complaints with the national Do Not Call registry - congratulations, Global Premier Services! You're a bunch of assholes!

Jen and I have randomly gotten mysterious fax calls in the past couple of months, but when they dialed us five times in the last half-hour, I was ready to go on a Duke Nukem-style quest to destroy these idiots. Fortunately, popping their fax number (732-542-3503) into a quick search lead me to a forum post where a bunch of other folks had been having the same problems. These guys are a bunch of junk fax telemarketers, and apparently don't have enough sense to figure out if they're faxing their garbage to actual fax machines.

Now, I could've been nice. I could've called the company first (their number's 732-389-3900, if they're harassing you, too) and asked them nicely to get me the hell off their calling list.

But they already got cited by the FCC in 2002 for DNC violations, so I figured the best option was to go scorched earth on these motherfuckers. A quick trip over to donotcall.gov later, I'd filed a pair of complaints, one with the autodialer number and one with their actual number, all in about thirty seconds.

With that done, I called their real number, got to their customer service rep and blasted them, got transfered over to another department, yelled at them and demanded they immediately get my number off their calling list. They promised it'd get taken off right away - and so far, no calls. I'm not gonna bet money on it, though.

Updates/Additions:
In addition to filing a complaint with the DNC list (which I've been told is overseen by the FTC), you can also file a complaint with the FCC, using their online form 475.

The company goes by several names:
-Xpedite Systems, LLC
-Global Premier Services
-Premier Global Services

The main line for the company is 732-389-3900, as noted above, but they claim to have a toll-free line, 877-771-8283. Either way, the direct contact for their Do Not Call list is 732-389-3900, x7005.

All of this is noted on their company website's privacy policy page, which comes off as a big load of crap. There's also some fine print down at the bottom that says you'll be added to their Do Not Call list for 10 years, which sounds nice, but doesn't cut it for me.

Their corporate offices contact info:
The Lenox Building
3399 Peachtree Rd. NE
Suite 700
Atlanta, GA 30326
(404) 262-8400

And judging by how their email system seems to be set up, these are guesses at email addresses at which you can try contacting their bigwigs:

Boland T. Jones, CEO: boland.jones@premiereglobal.com (not bouncing as of Dec. 13, 2006)
Jeffrey A. Allred, Pres. & COO: jeffrey.allred@premiereglobal.com (bouncing and apparently not legit)

Failing that, feel free to pop those names in your favorite search engine and see what comes up.

------------
UPDATE:

As of Dec. 2007, I have a dedicated anti-telemarketing blog at http://telemarketthis.blogspot.com/

If you have horror stories, companies violating the DNC or anything else you want to pass along, pop over and either drop a comment or an email.

Thanks For the Lead

I also was getting slammed by the mysterious fax messages on my answering machine, up to 12 a day, finally the calls started showing up unblocked and were from the number you had posted... The were showing up with Med Ltd 732-542-3503... After calling them repeatedly demanding a real person from the receptionist and spending over an hour doing it I grew tired of calling and yelling and am now filing one complaint per call (6-12 per day, 5 days a week for a little over 3 weeks) with both the donotcall.gov list and with the PA State Attorney Generals office... The company is Premiere Global Services formally known as Xpedite Systems and are located in Eatontown NJ and the number you gave 732-389-3900... Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for the info cause the company isn't giving anything away on the net...

Re: Thanks For the Lead

Glad I could help someone - that's most of the reason I posted this in the first place, since those bastards are good at hiding themselves. I'm amazed their calls came in totally unblocked - I was only getting the number on the ID.

If you call the 389 number, you can actually get a hold of someone to get you off their list in short order - assuming you can call in the few hours during the day when they have someone there. Way to drop the hammer on them, though.

Re: Thanks For the Lead

The calls were coming into me as anonymous for the first couple of weeks, but then they started coming in unblocked... A couple of the calls actually came around midnight!!! I had to basically take off the whole day to hunt them down and get in touch with someone, I'm waiting on a call back to find out if they plan on reimbursing me for that time right now 80) (I know, I know) but I threatened to file a suit against them with a local District Justice and they would either have to come here to defend against it or have a judgement put against them, plus I have Vonage and the calls are free to torment them for a while... I also forwarded a complete list of all calls and times to the PA AG and filed one complaint per call with the Feds... I'm now filling out BBB claims against them in each state they have offices and I told the receptionist I was going to be faxing her a whole pack of black construction paper for Christmas just to prove there are no hard feelings... Hmmm, I still have 3 hours with nothing better to do then tie up their lines... I have a whole case of hammers to get through...

Don't forget the FCC

Don't forget to file a complaint with the FCC using form 475. Donotcall.gov is run by the FTC, so by complaining to the FCC as well you are more likely to get some results.

Thank you sooo much for all of your research info, it is saving our sanity here, my husband it out plowing in a major snowstorm and his business phone is being repeatedly dialed by ths 732-542-3503, over 25 times in 2 hours, so much so he called the police.
At any rate, this info proved indispensable, I got in touch with the corporate office's legal department and they are blocking the auto dialer from his phone.
Ergghhh those damn telemarkers are the bane of society!!!!! Thank God for blogs such as this one!!

Re: Found out how to get immediate action from the calls

I tried their 800 number and spoke to someone about removing my number. They said they would, but when I asked if they could tell me what business was paying them to send faxes to me, they said they were unable to supply that information. I asked to be sent to her manager --and got her voice mail. I requested she get me that information and then remove me from their list. We'll see how effective that is.

Thanks so much for this post! It's incredible how many of us deal with this company.

Re: Found out how to get immediate action from the calls

First of all... I LOVE YOU for sharing this information. My husband and I have been dealing with these calls for more than a year since moving into our new house. When the fax machine calls our house, we get all different numbers including the one you mentioned, but also different area codes and even 999-999-9999. It's driving me crazy! Anyhow, I found this info helpful when I googled this number:

http://whocalled.us/lookup/7325423012

So now I'm not sure if this is just a result of a company that's not complying with the FTC, or the result of a wannabe scammer.

Thanks to you, I at least have a starting place. You are the best! Who knew blogging could change lives???

different approach

we've actually had our fax machine hit by these, and since they were addressed to my name (with an incorrect title), all hawking resumes, I've called a couple of the folks who are having their rezes fwd'd by th these idiots. apparently, there are several headhunting shops that are trying this tactic right now. needless to say, the resumes are going in the trash, and I'm letting the clients know it. interestign to see what happenes from that angle, as well (and our internal VOIPBX now drops all calls from that number into a "block" tone)

You've been a big help

This morning, I received calls from these a-holes at 5:30AM & while I was filing a complaint online with the do not call registry, they called again at 5:47AM. With this detailed information I think I can end the madness that began last evening and continued again this morning. I am an unlisted number and have been on the do not call registry since January of 2005 so this is completely unacceptable.
Thanks for your assistance.

B****rds

They are calling to the UK as well...

I asked my provider to block these numbers, and that's done... No more problems.

I wish I could spend some time into it, and install the lowest speed fax machine to keep receiving the faxes in memory... Something like 300Bps (one page would take aaaages to be sent...).

Their telephony bill would increase for sure.

Thanks for the info!!!

I've recently started to receive fax calls from the 732-389-3900 number. But this morning, at 5:30am, I received 2 back-to-back calls, one to my land line and one to my cell! Now that pretty much crossed the line, so I filed complaints on both the DNC and FCC sites, and I'll also be calling them directly to vent out some steam.

Premiere/Xpedite has a blog

Its location is:
http://blog.premiereglobal.com/

I went to the first ten posts and left the following comments:
STOP SENDING ME JUNK FAXES !! STOP SENDING ME JUNK FAXES !! MY NUMBER IS REGISTERED WITH THE FCC DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST YOU. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN WHATEVER CRAP YOU ARE TRYING TO SELL! CEASE YOUR FAX SPAMMING IMMEDIATELY!

Only I repeated all that so it took up the entire comment box. They probably won't publish them but at least my message will reach someone. I urge all of you to do the same. Since we can't fax spam them back, we can blog spam them.

Maybe it's time to file a class action lawsuit for harassment, or something along those lines, and put these people out of business once and for all. Their complete disregard for the National DNC list is enough, I think, to prove it.

As effective as class actions can be, proving this kind of thing would be difficult - sure, they're bothering tons of people with their calls, but the legal definition of harassment has pretty stringent guidelines, and sets it as a misdemeanor, not a civil matter.

I can't list the number on the DNR for obvious reasons and I've tried the auto-remove list and it hasn't worked. I've asked our tech support people for help and we're now told that the number is being removed. I'll believe it when the calls stop. Guess misery loves company.

telemarketer bastards - they got me too

First of all my sincerest sympathy to all of you;
I just kinda felt the need to share this with you and hope it helps a little
Got several calls from fax 732-542-3012 / woke me up at 3am: the night and one of the few Saturdays off ruined, due to lack of sleep!
Here is my little crusade that made me feel a little better:
1) googled the number that called me and ended up filing my first complaint on www.whocalled.us
2)read all the posts on this site (felt a little better, since I knew I was not alone
3)visited your super informative blog with lots of hands on info how to fight spammers!http://flyinglobster.livejournal.com/362319.html
4) called fax number back and use the optout (lets see what happens)
5)filed complaints with as suggested: FTC https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 registered on donotcall.gov and file complaint
6)I sent e-mails to premier global (the company that is behind all this mess) :'Daniel.Nunez@premiereglobal.com','privacy@premiereglobal.com'
and visited PremierGlobal Connect on their website for more contact informations
7)To STOP the calls, call Premier Global Services at:
1-800-966-3297
after the LONG message, press #1 (fax to mail) option and tell the operator that the number 732-542-3012 has been persistently calling YOUR number [give them your number] and they will send your request in to STOP THE CALLS!! It takes 24-48 hours for them to stop dialing your number.
Here is a website
http://www.jobmag.com/guide/c003/c003214.htm
(we'll see if this works)
Don't bother calling on weekends - they are closed

About Premier Global: www.PGIConnect.com This a company that offers advertising packages to companies, that we consider spam calls, faxes, e-mails, cell phone messages!!!! They sell the service of faxing,e-mailing .... to millions and millions of people at the same time automatically and continuous. They state they are in compliance with all spam and do not call laws, but apparently not.But I guess they are hiding behind just providing a service and the responsibility is in the hands of their customers - Major BS if you ask me!
From the premir global website:How many people can I send my document to in a single broadcast?
Premiere Global Services has one of the largest document delivery networks in the world and supports list sizes in the tens of thousands of recipients
I guess this explains a lot!!

Hang in there!!

Re: telemarketer bastards - they got me too

You all seem to not understand the business that you are complaining about. They are a messaging platform that sends out legitimate business information to fax, email and voice addresses. If you seem to be getting fax tones sent to your phone number then in a previous life that number was some businesses, member or constituents fax number and is on someones distribution lists. They are not out of the blue trying to send you a fax. You can call there toll free number and ask to be put on there national fax block list and have them confirm that your number is blocked. Everyone seems to forget that there is a lot of legitimate business communication that goes on daily to make this country run. You also must realize that someone is making a living on those communicaitons and your willy nilly ranting can cost someone there livelihood.

Re: telemarketer bastards - they got me too

You say they're sending out legit business info, I say they're a fax spammer. Either way, it's on Xpedite to verify who the hell they're calling in the first place - can you imagine the amount of time and money they're wasting trying to fax numbers that aren't fax machines? Beyond that, shouldn't Xpedite just look at the National DNC List and... oh, I don't know, abide by it?

Ultimately, what I write or what someone else writes won't cost someone a job - it's the actions of the company that will determine its fate and its employees' fates.

call blocking CID

http://www.interceptorid.com/

I love this device and it sounds like you will too . They also have good tech support . For $100 this device has been a god send . You can program it to block an entire area code yet allow any number from that area code that you might want to come through . My sister defaulted on a car loan that my mother cosigned and that's how I ended up with this device . They would call from 8 am to 9 pm M-F but then started calling on weekends . First the bank would call from N. Dakota so I blocked the whole state , then they would call from PA so I blocked the whole area code , then they started calling from the Orlando area - blocked . Then they started using their 800, 866 , 877 etc so I blocked all of those numbers . The only numbers I haven't been able to block are the ones that say Unknown . The device does require an old answering machine to dump the calls into which you just let fill up with messages and never empty . The other disadvantage to this device is that it only blocks calls to the phone you have it hooked up to unless you buy their remote receivers which are $30 each . Hope you can use this info ! Call in the press.

The Sr. V.P. of Investor Relations and Strategic Planning gave his telephone number out on the Q1, 2008 Investor Relations call. His name is Sean O'Brien and his phone number is (404)262-8462. A transcript of the call is available by googling Premier Global Services and choosing the Seeking Alpha link.

Perhaps an aggressive reporter from the Altanta Journal Constitution would be interested in outing these guys in the newspaper. Come to think of it, CNN is in Altanta. Maybe they would like to fill some time with an investigative report on junk faxers.

Just a thought.

Re: Call in the press.

I work in news; unless these guys get heavily fined by the FTC or FCC, or if someone can produce evidence (and I'm talking hard evidence, not anecdotal) of them receiving thousands of DNC List violations or something similar, Premier isn't worth a story.

If local Atlantans started bombarding the AJC or one of the news stations with legit complaints, that might warrant a story, but random emails from people scattered all over the place might not.

Also, bear in mind that without an inside source willing to speak or hard evidence of flagrant abuse of the DNC List, there's not much to go on right now.

Re: Call in the press.

From my experience with Premiere Global (a client for a non-fax product), the abusers are most likely companies paying to use their system. However, they need to have controls in placed to keep these lame companies from screwing the public (us). Telemarketing (any form) is a market that shouldn't exist, in my non-realistic opinion, unless you asked for the offers.

Now to go scream at companies who primary model of making money is hoping customers "forget"...

I don't know what's going on with this bastards.
I'm trying to call them to add my phone number into their 'do not call' list but they hang me out all the time. I hope I'll be able to stop them.
Thank you for all the information I found in this blog and the deep research you do that could help us.
Best wishes.
